Shopping and Seaside

Went shopping in a fairly local way today. I believe the event was called the Silk Expo? But I'm unsure (I misunderstand so many things when they're spoken in Chinese). Certainly there were many things other than silk for sale. In fact, the majority of the stuff probably wasn't silk. There was tea, food, appliances, lots of clothing (silk, cotton, leather, fur), jewelry, and lots of miscellany. It was arranged in the typical Chinese market style of a room full of little booths, each manned by a different person or group of people. Since today was the last day of the sale, most things were on sale. :)

After a spending all our money we decided to go for a walk since the place was right by the seaside.
In front of the building we just shopped in. The 'expo' was in one of its many huge rooms

We came across a dance rehearsal during our stroll. They were just finishing an Irish dance of some sort. (click on any of the photos to enlarge.)

This part of the coast boasts a big strip of bronze with footprints of notable Dalian residents (as well as random children and infants, I think). Somewhere in the strip rests the imprints of my grandfather's feet (as he eagerly told me before we left that morning). However, they're unlabeled, so we had no idea which were his.

Also of note are a number of interactive bronze statues. :D
